Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture spring 2013 Paris Fashion Week handbag

Jean Paul Gaultier sent his haute couture spring 2011 collection down the Paris Fashion Week runway earlier today and it was filled with theatrics, light-hearted mo-hawks, animated models and everything one would expect from Jean Paul Gaultier, who know that fashion is meant as form of self-expression; not something to take too seriously. In the sea of can-can skirts, red, black and mo-hawks hairstyles, there was one haute couture handbag on the catwalk seemingly inspired by a medieval weapon.
Jean Paul Gaultier's haute couture collection asserted a can-can dancer theme with rock and roll around the edges. The hemlines ranged from modified column's to full crinoline can-can style dace skirts. The necklines were varied with a combination of one-shouldered looks, asymmetrical lines and strapless gowns. The color palette told a similar story as other haute couture designers with beige, black, white and red as the central themes. There was also a touch of menswear and a slight "Bonnie and Clyde" inspiration thrown into the mix.
Jean Paul Gaultier sent one handbag down the Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture runway. The handbag was a round black ball with a short strap allowing the bag to be worn to the forearm or handheld. The ball was covered in spikes of varying size and reminded the fashion world of a medieval weapon. The handbag added a bit of toughness to a menswear look on the catwalk; perhaps insinuating a return of the power suit for women.
